Book Review – “Mommy Who is Allah?” by Zainab Jones.

“Mommy who is Allah?” by Zainab jones is a wonderful book for Muslim kids explaining the attribute “Al Khaliq” – the creator.

It’s a story of a Little boy called Abdul Rahman who asks his mother about who is Allah and her mother replies him explaining that He is the Creator of every single thing in the universe.
It is perfect for kids as the language is colorful and lively. I simply loved how the mother explains to her son about various things. The book will be loved by kids, as mothers can use actions used in the book. That is how kids need to be taught, using variations in voice, change in tone, using colorful words, hand motions and animated style.

The illustrations are beautiful, colorful and sure to attract and interest young readers. I also like how the mother is wearing a hijab, a full muslim dress.
A dialogue that I liked,

“…white clouds that turn grey when filled with rain.”
I felt that addition of jobs of men and women was out of place in the story.
Perhaps, the best book out there explaining the name of Allah “Al-Khaliq”.

Overall, a very nice story, with a great message for young Muslim kids.

This book has all components necessary to win hearts of little Muslims.

Eagerly waiting for other books in the series.

  1. Reblogged this on "Mommy, Who Is Allah?" and commented:
    Allah created the night and resurrection. وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَالنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَجَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُورًا {47

    :
And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you, and the sleep (as) repose, and makes the day Nushur (i.e. getting up and going about here and there for daily work, etc. after one’s sleep at night or like resurrection after one’s death).

Community Helpers such as doctors, police officers, firemen, teachers, etc. are taught in the pre-school -to kindergarten curriculum. The people and their jobs will tie the book to what kiddos are learning in school. Although the book covers an element of Islamic Aqeedah it also compliments pre-school/kindergarten curriculum taught in American/British schools domestically and abroad. In Sha Allah.
