I am starting a series of easy, small, good deeds that can be done almost daily and which can bring you closer to Jannah. This is part one of the series. I will list the 3 deeds in the beginning, for those of you who are short of time and will provide authentic ahadith and Quranic verses in the explanation. Hope it benefits us all, and bring us closer to Allah(swt).
We are looking at very easy deeds, that you can do everyday in sha Allah.
1. Giving salam to everyone and giving complete salam.
2. Reciting surah mulk after maghrib
3.Saying bismillah and alhumdullillah.
1. Saying Assalam alekum to every muslim. (If you are lucky to be in a muslim country, it is very easy, give salam to everyone.) Develop the habit of saying complete salam “Assalam Alekum warahmatullahi wabaraktuhu” to mutiply your hasanah.
Al-Bukhaari (12, 28 and 6236) narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar that a man asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “What is the best thing in Islam?” He said, “Feeding others and giving the greeting of salaam to those whom you know and those whom you do not know.”
Al-Bukhaari in al-Adab al-Mufrad (586) reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that a man passed by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) whilst he was sitting with some others, and said “Salaam ‘alaykum (peace be upon you).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “[He will have] ten hasanaat (rewards).” Another man passed by and said “Salaam ‘alaykum wa rahmat-Allaah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allaah).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “[He will have] twenty hasanaat.” Another man passed by and said “Salaam ‘alaykum wa rahmat-Allaahi wa barakaatuhu (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allaah and His blessings).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “[He will have] thirty hasanaat.”
2. Recite Surah mulk every night. It will save you from azab e qabr. It is not a very long surah. When you recite it everyday, it will start taking less and less time and you will also automatically memorize it. You can recite it from your phone or tablet just before sleeping.
Whoever reads Tabaarak allaahi bi yadihi’l-mulk [i.e., Soorat al-Mulk] every night, Allaah will protect him from the torment of the grave. At the time of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) we used to call it al-maani’ah (that which protects). In the Book of Allaah it is a soorah which, whoever recites it every night has done very well.
Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 6/179; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1475.
3. Say bismillah and Alhumdulillah all the time.
Allah(swt) says in Holy Quran: So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me. (Surah Baqarah: 152)
“And your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’ ” (Surah Ibrahim: 7)
Say bismillah at the beginning of every task. Before sitting, before standing, before lying down, before starting your work, at every step of you work. Except in the toilet, you can say bismillah everywhere before any non-haram action. If you can’t say bismillah before doing something, then don’t do it.
We only say alhumdulillah, when asked “How are you?” Try to say alhumdulillah for everything.
Let’s Increase our Alhumdulillah’s. Say it every time, people ask you if had your meal.
Had ur lunch? Alhumdulillah, yes I had my lunch.
Alhumdulillah, I slept well last night.
Alhumdulillah I finished my work.
Alhumdulillah, I reached home.
Alhumdulillah, I have finished cooking.
Alhumdulilah, I am done with shopping.
These are just examples, try to insert Alhumdulillah wherever applicable in your statements. And watch the barakah increase in your life.
In difficult situations you can say Alhumdulillah ala kulli haal.
